@herbalenquiry Best not to if the barrels are rifled
thank you you helped me so much
is the smk xs79 capeable to kill rabbits from 25 to 30 yards away
With the TH78D how many shots do you get from the two 12g CO2 capsuels?
@AirgunTV 10ft/lb ? I chronographed mine and its running at only 7ft/lb - not at all enough for hunting !
Got one of them
quick question, but what sort of scope mounts are on these rifles?
got the TH78D today. if your thinking of buying this gun, then also buy some 19mm O-rings for the gas seal. my gas seal broke after around 50 shots. apart from that, the gun feels great in the hand and i would reccomend it for hunting.
mmm 10 ft lbs – mine chronographed at just under 8 !! why are people never honest about output of guns – easy to tune now mine runs at 11.6 and is converted to run on HPA
@spike589715 Who’s not being honest, Spike? Are you saying AirgunTV? With all respect, this is what our guns chrono’d at. Why would we say otherwise. Of course, CO2 guns vary due to temperature (and speed of shooting in auto-load pistols). A gasser doing 10+ft/lb on a hot day could easily be doing 8ft/lb on a cold one.
@ViralEye1 Can’t remember what we used for this test – possibly Bisley (made by Sportsmatch UK). Or possibly ones supplied by SMK. Whatever, these rifles take 11mm clamps. HTH
@thunder6221 Yes, providing the power’s there – though we’d limit hunting to 25 yards.
@KhakiInferno Good! Thanks for letting us know…
@dixie71666 They are powerful – and accurate, as they’re recoilless – enough out to around 25 yards. Ours were doing 10ft/lb…though this might go up in really hot weather, and down in really cold weather. Always check your zero before you go out. Shot-count is dependent on temperature and pellet weight – it’s around 30
I brought a new 79 (over xmas in 22)fitted a 850 psi bottle (HPA) the string i shot was all under 8 ! (Crombo Crono)work on tranfer ports & probe- up to 11.5 these are great guns but need work- from the box my bolt was as very rough – even jamming horrible but strip pollish and lube – lovely these guns are what they are I paid £75 for this new I knwe i would need to work on it – I have 2 others all home tuned and great – i have seen these talked about as full power perhaps you got a good one ?
I was thinking of getting the standered xs78 modle for just plinking and maybe some squirrel shooting. Can anyone tell me what they think of it and if is worth it?
Love Airgun TV, also has something of interest. Newish to airguns and just bought ahw97kt wood stock
very cheap gun – look at the 79 with an HPA air bottle very consistant then – some basic tuning makes these guns very good – they are quite rough out the box and a bit low on power ( as the temp drops so does the power on co2) hunting ok if close enough (and warm)easy to make smooth – my first one was a 78 – ended up by bulk filling from a co2 fire extinguisher (before the HPA mods) – very cheap to run but not consistant power – check out chinese gun fourm uk
Hey guys, check out the Hammerli CR20… It’s CO2 Powered, and jaw dropping accurate!
@AirgunTV no its not , sorry to say but your wrong 10 ft/lbs will not give a clean kill on a rabbit
do you need a firearms certificate for this?
@fudnuts1 Nope – they are sold in the UK as sub-12ft/lb air rifles, so are exempt from licensing under the 1968 Firearms Act.
@iain777uk Thanks… and a good buy. Have you seen Giles Barry’s review of the synthetic-stocked HW97K-T on the Airgun Gear Show. He REALLY liked it and applied for an instant loan from the Bank of Wife to get one!!!
@airgun tv Yep its a great review. Airgun Gear show is a great show to watch. fun and informative.
Wow. Very nice. Makes my Gamo look pretty weak!
